Default Not another A/C question!

Yep fraid so....
I was removing the fan from my 01 PT to troubleshoot what I thought was a bad fan when I found the following. The switch was melted and hanging down, but based on the green plastic remnants, I THINK it used to go in that hole on the compressor in the pic. Anyone know what that particular connector is for? The A/c used to work once up to speed, but now it doesnt work at all, obviously. I am guessing I am gonna need a new compressor now.

OK, I just tried to take a look at mine. Hard because of all the wiring harnesses in the way but it looks like your missing something on the end of the green plug. The plug does go into the hole but there's a black cap on the green plug and I "think" there's some wires coming out of the black plug that you don't show in your picture. What the whole thing does I'm not sure.

it's not missing, the whole plug melted out of the housing, I have the harness and plug end....was just wondering what that particular harness goes too and if it's mendable w/out buying a new compressor. Also, what kinda heat would it have taken to melt that out!?

I think I may have found your answer. They green switch or black top doesn't look exactly like what your showing but it's in the exact same place as your picture. It's the High Pressure Cutout Switch.

ahh, well done crewzin...thanks for the help. I think my fan is bad (cuz it doesnt come on when you turn the AC on), and maybe that put some serious heat on the compressor? Dunno, just guessing, but I am gonna r2 the compressor and the fan. There goes my piston money for the t-bird.

Just found the service manual on hereand what a help that was. The High pressure switch IS replaceable, it's help in by a snap ring. I will put a new fan in and pray the compressor aint burnt up.
