I have a 05 and it very hard to see how to get the ac compressor out so I can replace it. Does anyone have any guides on this?
Thanks

Everything is accessible from the passenger side wheel well. Take the right wheel off and unfasten the inner fender and everything is in plain site.

You know, by law, you have to capture the old gasses in the A/C system when replacing any A/C parts. Venting them into the atmosphere could get you a hefty fine.

Thanks for your response. Recovery of the 134a is no problem. However I forgot to say I have a turbo so with that stuff is in the way, I am not sure what i need to remove. Any ideas? Thanks

I have to replace my compressor on my 2004 non turbo. I have only 35k mi and have only turned the air on occasionaly. I know have found out that this under use is the problem the problem. It sounds like replacing the compressor is not a huge mechanical undertaking.
Is there a way that a novice can capture the old gasses? I would take it in to get it re charged of course.
You diagrams and info was most helpful.

Sorry, I don't think you can capture the old gases yourself, but some auto parts stores have tools and parts that you can borrow. Just maybe they have a part that will do that.
