Default Shopping for Shocks/Struts

Hey all just need some help trying to figure out what brand of shocks and struts I should buy.

I own a 2005 Pt Cruiser Convertible just recently got into upgrading parts under the hood, and did brakes myself.

I am very new to all of the automotive stuff.

I am obviously looking for better than stock performance shocks/struts.
Just need some opinions on what brands/models.

I also need to know this too. Any particular brands I should buy or stay away? Thanks

A lot of us went with Tokico struts and shocks and are pretty happy with them.

Products - Tokico Performance Shocks

KYB is pretty good too. I used them on my lowered 04 and they seemed be real good.

I kind of don't want the lowering option. Do you have to buy shocks with that?? Keep in mind guys I am a female and new to this mechanic stuff. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question.

To lower your cruiser you would need to do the springs. However I see your in Buffalo NY, I wouldnt recommend lowering it because if you drive in winter you will snow plow easier

I would get the Tokico shocks and struts and head over to Rock auto and buy the upper spring bearing kit, waffle boots and the lower spring cushion for the new struts. You will then have everything new. Might also want to get new front sway bar cushions and outer links/bushings to completely renew your front suspension.
