I know your not kidding but it's almost impossible to tell you what's wrong without more information. When it died, did you get the engine light on the dash? When you pulled over, would the engine turn over at all when you tried to start it? Did you have any power to the lights, radio etc.? Did you check to see if you ran out of gas?

You haven't told us anything except "it died". What year and what mileage do yo have on it? Has the timing belt been replaced? Do you keep it in good tune? If you ran it low/out of oil the engine could have froze up? Does it go in for regular oil changes?

You see what I mean about more information?

My guess, and it's almost certain because of your mileage, is that your timing belt broke. Your going to have to tow it to a trusted mechanic or dealer and have the timing belt, tensioner, water pump and probably both drive belts replaced. It will cost you anywhere between $800 and $1200 for parts and labor. Don't let anyone do it unless they have worked on a PT before. The timing belt is tricky and if done wrong, you'll be back trying to convince the mechanic that it's off by 1/2 a tooth and your idle is shaky.

Since you were traveling along when the belt broke, there's a very slight change of internal engine damage when the belt broke. Most owners have gotten away without that damage but make sure yours is tested before you get it back.

The belt should have been replaced around 100K to avoid leaving you stranded on the side of the road.
