Question 06PT Cruiser Radiator Fan

I just took my car back from the mechanic. Said I needed a new radiator fan, and it would cost me $400+. Have a friend who said they'd fix it and not charge me for labor, but I've gotta buy the part. Cool, but I can't figure out what I need to buy. Checked online: auto zone, advanced auto, o reilly's, napa, and pep boys. Either they don't recognize what I'm looking for, or can't agree on a part. I've seen from 10" to 16" fan costing $75 - $250. Does anyone know what size/type of fan a base model '06 need? Thanks.

Apparently there is difference in the 00-05 and 06-08 fan modules. If you can wait to have it delivered, here's a place with a good price.

I didn't really plan this out too well. I'm going on vacation next week, and my friend was hoping to come over tomorrow afternoon to fix it. It's a really good deal, I'll remember the website next time I need a fix. By chance do you know of the specs on the fan so I could try to find it before tomorrow? I really appreciate it.

No, sorry, I don't know what they changed from the earlier models to the 06-08 models that would make it different. I'm really surprised, but I guess i shouldn't be, that the stores don't have the updated information.

I'd go to the nearest place and go through the parts book to try and figure out which one you need and see if they have it in stock and that they are open tomorrow so you can take it back. It only takes about 1 hour to 1 1/2 to replace the fan/housing if you have all the right tools.

Advanced has them, check online then see if your local store has it in stock right online.

I really appreciate it. When my friend comes over later, I'll have him look it over, and then we'll try to find the part. I was also told to check with the local junkyards. So I'm going to try that too. Thanks a ton!
