Default Camshaft Sensor Oil leak

Happy belated July 4th to all. I have a 2006 PT, non-turbo and an engine code directing me to an error in the camshaft sensor. Yes, I bought the OEM part. I noticed a little oil in the area behind the electronic sensor and the magnetic disc. Is that a normal occurance? Thanks for any input or direction to old threads. This is a great place for sharing data.

Did you change the sensor and did it work? Sorry not sure about the oil I'm sure someone that does will chime in.

I used the non-OEm then read about the non-OEM bugaboo on this forum and ordered an original along with some other items from Chrysler parts on Internet. When I replaced with the non-OEM it still acted as if it had a bad miss at times ( run ruff, hard to restart, then run ok for 10-20 seconds followed by 5-10 seconds of miss like condition ). I use an "Auto Xray" analyser and when I came back after installing the non-OEM, it gave me a Anti-Knock sensor code and a bad Oxygen sensor code along with the original replace Camshaft sensor code. It has about 65,000 miles on it. I am going to replace the Spark plugs ( AC 3570(( gapped to .040)), find a new set of better plug wires, both O2 sensors and the Knock sensor ( since it was cheap ) and install the new Can shaft sensor).

I have replaced twice (first lasted 1-2 months, next one no problems so far) but do notice some oil around it. Not sure if it supposed to have some residual oil but my experience has been no problem. Hopefully someone can shed more light on this. 130K and still going.

A bit of oil is ok, according to a friend who is a mechanic. He supervised my DIY repair.
