Default Turbo oil filter on non turbo???

Turbo oil filter on non turbo??? This fits right? I see no reason it wouldn't but just wanted to know if anybody else was doing this to get the added benefit of a bigger filter. I want to change my oil in a few weeks and wanted to install the bigger filter before my vacation where I will be doing a lot of driving in the moutains. My only concern is the size difference.

We do it all the time in the Corvette community. The 5.7 ltr truck filter (bigger) is used on our Coups and Verts. Holds a full quart instead of 1/2 qt.

Hi Crewzin, a few years ago I changed my filter housing make it use one of those "bucket" sized filters that you used on your corvette. I posted the process over at PT Crew. I'm putting up a couple pics of the three differant filters that I (we) are talking about.

1. small stock filter
2. bigger turbo filter
3. biggest, my conversion filter.

I'll head over to the Crew and get the post to put here. The post is too long to post here all over again. It's NOT a simple spin off-spin on process. The biggest one won't fit without some easy, but necessary, alterations.

Jerry,

I remember what your talking about. Dino was only mentioning a bigger stock filter that would fit without any alterations and hold a bit more oil. I wasn't aware of the Turbo using a large filter but since the engines are practically the same, there shouldn't be any problem fitting the larger filter on the N/A engine.

Just thought he might like to know he can go even bigger than turbo filter.b, but yes, the turbo filter will spin right on.

Speaking of your vette, Do you still go to all of the vette gatherings that you used to. It seems like every time I saw you back then you had either just been to or was getting ready to go a PT or vette show! I was to old to do that back then and "I'm even older today". Life moves on. I make it to maybe one local show a month, if I'm lucky, these days.

Maybe we can get the Tampa picnic that they were talking bout to come to fruition. I'll go over and add a post to ones that are already there to see if anyone is interested yet. I'd love to see the old gang again.

Jerry

Thanks Jerry, I'm thinking the bigger stock turbo filter is good enough for my stock PT but I do appreciate your input and will look to seeing you modified version over at the crew.

I use the turbo filter on both my PTs. Fits perfectly.
