New to this forum and was wondering if anyone could give me a little insight on what may be wrong with my PT. I have a 5 speed manual transmission that lurches/jerks when I shift into any gear and am accelerating. It almost feels like I'm relearning how to drive a stick shift (but I am shifting properly). The severity of the problem varies from day to day. Some well meaning friends have taken it for a spin to see if they can figure out the problem and their idea is that something is wrong with the clutch. Anyone else have any suggestions?

It used to shift beautifully between gears. This is a new, and I must say, annoying problem. Even if I've been in a gear driving at a given speed and need to accelerate rapidly, it will begin jerking before I even need to shift to the next gear.

This does sound like a clutch issue...the clutch is slipping under heavy acceleration. The holding force of the clutch is being overtaken by the force exerted on the taxed engine. Does the problem exist when you accelerate slowly?
