Default AC PROBLEM

My 2006 Pt cruiser's having a AC problem. The fan keeps shutting off then going back on again. The ac doesn't get cold. Took it to a mechanic and he said the fan was broken to replace would cost 425.00 for the part. seems a lot to me. anyone know what the part is, so I could maybe order it online

You can pick up the part for around $100 on eBay or a little more at a decent auto parts store like Pep Boys, Advance Auto, discount Auto etc.

If your handy with a couple of different tools, we have a guide that will help you change the fan yourself.

It's just a radiator fan assembly for a 200? PT Cruiser Non-turbo (if that's what you have). Any parts counter person should be able to look it up.

Here's one from eBay for a 2001-2005 PT Cruiser...

Thanks a lot. I asked the mechanic if it was a radiator fan he said no. So, I'm going on vacation with my 2006 PT tomorrow. Is my radiator going to overheat?
I'm so pissed. I also have to find out if it's a turbo or non turbo.

Wait a minute! You said you have A/C problems and were told the fan keeps shutting off and now your saying the mechanic said it's not the radiator fan ???

I think you need a new mechanic.

Is your PT going to overheat? Hard to say. If it IS your radiator fan that's not working, yes you'll probably overheat, especially when you come to a stop or idle. If it isn't your radiator fan, then I don't know what to say. Maybe he's talking about the interior fan which in that case you won't over heat except your body because you won't have any cool air blowing towards you.

Are you talking about the interior blower fan, or the rad fan?
