Red face Help my car won't start

I have an 03 PT Turbo.
I am unable to start my car. I tried to jump start it and it does nothing. The radio, lights, windows, etc, all come on. I tried to jump start the car and it did nothing. I did all of the things to check the codes and all that I got was a "done", what does that mean?
I am not very car literate but will try anything that is suggested, so someone please give me some sort of clue as to what to do.
Thanks

The "done" from the computer means there's no stored fault codes. You did it right, it's just telling you that whatever is wrong doesn't set a code in the computer.

If you connected the jumper cables up correctly and the engine wont' turn over, you might have a bad stater or starter solenoid. I think I read where yo can't buy the solenoid separately so you have to buy a whole unit (starter/solenoid together). There could be other reasons also why it won't start.

Double check that the jumper cables are making good contact. Last time I had to jump mine, the cables had to be just right in order for the voltage to flow from the good battery. Several times when the cables looked good, nothing happened till the cables were moved around to make good contact.

Well, then it looks like something more major like the starter. It will have to checked out by your dealer or mechanic unless you have someone who knowledgeable with cars. A direct hookup to the starter, or someone banging/tapping on the starter or solenoid can narrow it down to that.

Depending on what it's doing, have you installed any electical items recently? When I installed the electrics of my boost gauge I may have put too much strain on the radio wiring and pt would not start. It did 1 time then died out and could not be jump started.

I disconnected the radio and car started no problems. That's when I went back to stock radio.

Sounds like the starter for sure.

Regardless of any new electrical equipment, if everything else is working, and you get nothing when you turn the key its most usually the starter.

HOWEVER

I believe (and may be wrong) that the PTs had an issue with the ignition switch (where the key goes into). Occasionally mine will do this. The PO stated that he had the switch replaced, but that once in a while when you turn the Key it does nothing. I turn the switch back and forth and it suddenly works, then doesn't do it for months.

BUT

if you don't have this issue, then like I said its most likely the starter.
get someone else to try and start it, while you tap it somewhat lightly with a hammer, see if she starts. If it does you've found your issue (a Bad solenoid) thats sticking. So Replace the Starter. However if it's bad enough the hammer method doesn't always work. It's just a good field method to try and get one last start or two out of it to get it home.

A quick and dirty Backyard test of a starter is to use jumper cables, attach to the battery (or another battery and ground to frame) and hit the starter connection with 12v Red jumper cable and see if it spins. This will bypass switches and etc in the circuit and let you know if simply the starter is the issue or not.
