Default Code 1391 Sometimes I can't see the crank or cam sensor signal

Thought it was the cam sensor and replaced but still have the same problem. About 20 minutes into driving the car dies and doesn't start right back up. Can anyone tell me what to check next?

Did you replace with OEM or aftermarket. Our PT's do not care for aftermarket sensors.

...and it could be the Crankshaft sensor instead of the Camshaft sensor. Also the wiring harness for the Camshaft sensor has been known to have rubbed against parts of the engine causing a short in the wiring.

yes it is oem. Prior to getting the part, I read on hear that you should get OEM so that is what I did. $74. A little more than I expected but what can a person do. Where is the crank sensor located. I will check the wires really good to but when I did look I didn't see anything unusual. Thanks.

You didn't mention what year PT you have. If it's a 01-03 the Crank sensor is right above the oil filter. If it's later, Chrysler moved the sensor around to the other side of the engine around the starter.

Check the wiring harness to the Cam sensor first. Its been know to rub against parts of the engine and wear into the wires.

Mine came off the back side of the engine and hung low enough to rub on the spinning half shaft on the passenger side. Wore right through the harness and burnt the wires. Not fun at 1130pm going 80mph on a highway in South Carolina.

Me the next day being towed to a Chrysler Dealer (Phone Camera pic)

Seems the problem is on the crank sensor...one wire is bare and very fragile. Thanks for the help!
