Exclamation Awesome car until...

We just bought a 2005 pt cruiser classic with 93,000mi. looks and ran great until...we went to start it this morning and the car is misfiring, barely running, the oil light is on, codes p0129, p0122, p0344.

Can this be due to timing belt? Wiring? We just had the oil changed and its full also our family mechanic noticed the engine moving too much and he replaced 1 engine mount last week. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum.

P0129 - Barometric Pressure Out-of-Range low

Description - MAP sensor input voltage out of an acceptable range detected during reading of barometric pressure.

There are 11 possible causes listed in the diagnostic manual. It covers 3 pages of tests to determine the cause. I've replaced several MAP sensors. It's most likely a defect in the sensor. It's something that should be fixed ASAP.

P0122-THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR #1 LOW

If the TPS is far enough out of position or has a faulty electrical connection then the proper voltage by the TPS cannot be read by the engine computer to thus calculate fuel mixture and spark timing.

P0344 - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent - A rationality error has been detected for intermittent loss of camshaft position sensor.

Possible causes include:

Wiring Harness Inspection
(K7) 5 Volt Supply Circuit Open or Shorted To Ground
Camshaft Position Sensor

oh no, just tried to start car again and this time it didnt and now we have new codes P0522, P0340, P0335 in addition to above. Im wondering if the timing belt went or did changing the motor mount result in the engine pinching off a wiring harness. Has anybody had this before?

Your getting too many different codes for different parts. It just might be the timing belt but usually the codes for the belt are the Camshaft and Camshaft sensors. You are getting both those codes (P0340/P0355) plus others. You are close to the time, 100K, when we recommend everyone to change the timing belt.

There's a couple ways to check to see if the belt broke. Plastic cover on top of the belt can be taken off. You can take off the Camshaft sensor and see if the end of the Cam turns when you turn on the ignition. There might be other ways also.
