Default AC Problems I need help

Ok so my car blows warm (not extremely hot but not cold air at all) air. I put freon in it last night to make my air cold (since heat index is 104 degrees last 2 months). My air still doesn't work. Anyone know what else the problem could be? I need my air to work!!!

help!

Need a couple of answers and to stretch April's question a little further; if you had a leak you most probably wouldn't hear or see it. A red or blue dye is usually added to the system when anyone needs a top up of the R134a because the system can last a long, long time without needing a top off unless there's a leak. If you had to add any, then you most certainly do have a leak somewhere.

You also just can't throw in new R134a without knowing something about your system because overfilling will burn out the compressor. It should be filled with proper guages to get the right pressure on the high and low side.

Then you have two switches. One for the high pressure and one for recycling. The recycling switch usually only stops the compressor for awhile when it doesn't cycle on and off systematically.

Then you have to listen for the compressor to come on to see if that is working.

Well my brother in law who is a mechanic filled it for me. He knows what he is doing. I'm not an idiot when it comes to cars lol...I just confused to what it could be since it's not the actual freon and etc. That is all. The compressor is doing good from what he said. I guess I will just take it in...UGH

Oh and the freon hasn't had to be filled since the car was bought...So it's probably just out I mean that's 8 years lol

OK, does it by any chance get cold if you get the PT up to about 35mph+ and then the cold goes away when you slow down or your at idle?

Nope it's just warm air all the time...there's nothing cold about it lol. That's why I thought it was freon because it's not extremely hot air but it's not cold air either.

Well, if your topped off with R134a, the compressor is coming on, it doesn't matter if your moving or at idle, I give up. Unless someone comes along with another idea, looks like a trip to an A/C expert. Please come back and let us know what someone found.
