Default Transmission 2000 PT

New to forum, seems like great site. My problem is with a 2000 PT that will not shift from 1st gear. Car seems to be in "limp home" mode. I have been told there is a sensor or solenoid around the front bumper that may be the culprit. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank You

Welcome to the forum.

A sensor or solenoid around the front bumper that won't let your car out of 1st gear? That's a new one. Never heard of that. Do you have a "check engine" light lit on the guages? That will let you know if the computer sees a problem by setting a fault code.

There's a transmission solenoid pack that a lot of owners have had to replace but that usually sets a code (P0700) and lights up the Check engine symbol.

Have you had the PT since new. Has the transaxle ever been flused?
