Default Help again with A/C questions, I'm in Mexico

So it's blowing but not real cold - checked the 'gas' and the line can spirt out gas - so it doesn't appear to be out or leaking - it's a 2001, 174,000 miles
the mexican mechanic pointed to a small box attached and said something about it... got any ideas?? cindy@cozumelmexicohomes.com
by the way --- you all were most helpful with the transmission -

having "SOME" freon is good but having the RIGHT amout is way better you need to have some one put on a set of gagues and make sure it is not overfilled or underfilled and relaly thats about all you can do is make sure it has the right freon and the right amount

Good advice about the R134a, too much and you can burn out the compressor, too little and the system won't work.

Where did the mechanic point to this "box"? Was it at the firewall or towards the front? Was it really a "box" or like a round can?

i would be more worried about gun fire from the cartel wars than i would be with how hot it is. drive as fast as the law allows head strait for US border and worry about it when you are safe at home.

So, anyway - back to my situation --- I threw a power steering belt yesterday -
Does this have anything to do with the A/C - being it a condensor - or a external high pressure value??? OR Just a coincidence...
p.s. I live here in Cozumel for the last three years.

That belt is called the serpentine because it wraps around (like a snake) the power steering unit, the compressor, the air pump and is propelled by the pulley at the end of the crankshaft. So your compressor isn't turning.
