Default oil light on......

Hi, I'm new to this forum and want to know if anyone has any suggestions or thoughts to what may be going on with my car. I have a 2004 Turbo PT. 3 weeks ago had oil changed. 2 weeks ago oil light started to come on and beeps. (kind of like gas sounds when running low on fuel). It goes away then comes back on when I'm at a stop light.
I have not noticed my car running differently just that oil light. I took it to get diagnostic check and was told p9304 came up as the code and cylinder 4 was out and not working- misfire was also detected.
I was quoted close to 1000.00 to fix this issue.
I'm clueless and it sounds and have no idea what to do. A guy from work isn't familar with my car but said the oil switch just needs to be reset.

Anyone have any thoughts or been in this situation??

Thanks

Lisa, welcome to the forum.

Yes, the guy at work isn't familiar with the car because you can't reset the oil switch. There has been problems with the switch and it's pretty easy to replace it with a new one.

I don't think it's related to your misfire in cylinder 4 though. You might just have a vacuum leak. Find a trusted mechanic to replace the switch and check around the upper and lower manifold for a vacuum leak.

Since it started happening right after the oil change it is possible that the filter is bad and restricting the flow most of these places like juffy lube use really cheap filters. It might be worth having it changed, if you or anybody is handy the filter in the PT is cake to change. If that's not it the sensors have been reported to go now and then. The other issue is separate and could be like crewzin said a vacuum leak.

A vacuum leak would not cause a misfire on only one cylinder. You may have a bad spark plug and/or wire on that cylinder. You may also have a bad fuel injector, or worse case senario a bad piston or valve.
