Default How To Adjust Idle??

I changed the spark plugs today and the idle still sits at about 800 rpms and runs a bit rough. When I took off the plastic cover over the throttle linkage, both cables looked a bit slacky for a better work. What is the idle RPMs supposed to be at, and how do I adjust the idle??? Is there a video that shows how to adjust it?

Did you also change the plug wires, the wires are problematic on the PT? Plugs gapped at .040?

Yes I changed the wires and the plugs were Bosh with the 4 pronged that do not need gapping.

The idle is controlled by the PCM. I have a predator programmer and can change it through it. 800 RPMs sound a little low though i think its around 900 normally. You may try unhooking the battery for a bit and reattaching it to reset the computer.

I have the positive unhooked when I changed the spark plugs. I will try to unhook it again. This is the whole reason my other car is an RV with a Cummins that is mechanical. And I will be selling this PT soon and buying a peterbilt truck with a detroit. Easier to work on.

Wow, if you think the PT is to hard for you to work on, you haven't been looking or searching around very much. Good luck with your peterbuilt with a detroit, whatever that is.
