So far I've changed my exhaust system, added a MSD air intake system, a Jet Performance Chip and a Helix Power Tower. I'm certainly happy with the horsepower gains but I'm still disatisfied with the tourqe. I'm now thinking about a Hedman Header. I've heard that the header not only adds horsepower but also greatly improves tourqe. Who's added a header and what do you think of your improved performance? Thanks!!

I have a Borla header. The car is a little quicker now than when just with the exhaust. It's not a huge difference, though, because the car is heavy and engine small. I'd say for the cost, it's worth it.

Like RN says, a good header can improve torque some, but don't expect miracles. Also, you might be better off without the Helix Power Tower as those can't do anything but add more restriction on the PT with it's long intake runners and port fuel injection.

The Hedman Header for the PT is the popular setup now, taking over from the JBA and Borla models. Suggest buying the Borla retaining header bolts for your header. They have a locking clip so you won't have to periodically retorque the header bolts. Also, check out PT Do It Yourself for various installation guides and FAQ's for the PT.

Folks,
Thanks for all of your comments. I have one disagreement with CTFrank. The Helix Power Tower made quite a difference (at least by my seat of the pants estimation) in the midrange of the power band. I think I'll keep it. |
