Default Replacing 2.4 blocks

New here to the site but not to wrenching or performance. I have a 2004 PT Cruiser 2.4 that has a spun bearing that I got as a package deal with a trailer - well I wanted the trailer mostly but anyway wouldn't mind fixing the Cruizah up...

This is a turbo block and I have found a ton of non-turbo 2.4's around my parts and some rebuilt on crates but wondering if the non-turbo crank/pistons are the same? Or would I need to keep looking for a "S" VIN short block???

EDIT - are there any VERY detailed block spec articles out there? ALLPAR has been my only good source of info so far...

Thanks!
Ben

Im pretty sure the crank and pistons are different(especially the pistons) seeing as how when they made the turbo they had to overhaul the 2.4. I would recommend to you to keep looking and rebuild it original if you can. Unless the turbo is gone, in which case thats going to be a money pit.
Im sure someone else will chime in that knows more, but i saw the thread sitting unreplied, so i thew in my opinion.

benzO,

Welcome to the forum.

Here's an older thread and goes into some details of the Turbo engine which Jerry (wwpptc) and others posted to set someone straight on the details.

Jerry you beat me to it, referencing the same post as me. Great minds think alike.
