Default Cruiser 2.4 vs Neon SRT4 2.4

I wonder why Chrysler didn't put the 230hp version (actual 250hp) from the Neon SRT4 into the Cruiser for 2004? The article that I read on the SRT4 gave not only beter performance but also much better fuel milage.

I think they have the bigger injectors in the 2004, which I believe goes for the PT GT as well.

The SRT-4 has a better intake manifold and a muffler-less exhaust system which accounts for some of the HP differential.

Everything stated above plus the PT is about 600 lbs. heavier (I dont remember the actual figures) so that would explain the better performance and fuel mileage.

On the other side...
The "way cool" factor of the PT versus the "oh, that's just a Neon" factor
How many SRT4 clubs and members are out there versus PT Cruiser clubs and members
How much grocerys, camping gear, home improvement projects, etc. can you haul in your SRT4?

Actually, there are huge Neon forums, and the Neon's a real "stealth" racer.
I have both a PT and Neon - both un-turbo. I like the PT better, but the Neon is more "bang for your buck".

Agree with quicksilverdon, the Neon is a "stealth" racer! Most people do not realize how quick they can be.
