Hello
Has anyone had coolant boiling over in the reservoir tank I have a 06 Pt Cruiser Non Turbo. It started boiling coolant after I turn the car off. I replaced radiator cap and T-stat, and the boiling decresed, but It still do it after a drive of 20 minutes. I flush the old coolant and replaced with new one, bleed through the valve below the t-stat but it still do it. Any ideas? Thanks |

Can the type of coolant be the problem?
The car had Prestone 50/50 (green one) for 6 months and everything worked OK. Now I put Chevron Dex-Cool (orange one) , is this OK? Thanks |

There is a Xerex antifreeze that is okay (Napa has it and will look up the right #).
Check that the engine fan comes on - start car and turn on A/C - fan should come on.

Is there anyway to clean the system??
How do I know if its clog? When I changed the t-stat, i ran water trought the upper side of the radiator, and it came out from the t-stat hole in the engine? Thanks |

If the Dex-cool or the Green stuff were in the system for any length of time, the radiator is clogged and that is probably causing your problem. (The green stuff -may- be less cloggy.) It does not take long for the wrong coolant to ruin a radiator. If you bought the car used, you should assume that it had the wrong stuff in it.
