Default is it an error Code or something else

Hi people, I have an 04 PT cruiser. Yesterday after driving the car for about 2 miles the "yellow" engine light came on & is on all the time now. When I do the on -off, on- off -on the only codes (if that is what they are) are EE 13 & BL 01 / I have never had any problems with the car , the maintenance is done faithfully every 3-4 k miles. Any ideas?

Your doing the key trick thing wrong. Follow the instructions precisely and remember you have to turn the key 3 times within 5 seconds.

How to retrieve fault codes.

When the key dance is done correctly you will get a DONE reading in the speedo area. To find what the codes are you can use GOOGLE or go to the performance threads and look for a sticky. Good Luck, let us know what you find.

I'll try it again...but have done the on-off 3x's within the 5 sec / I get all the usual number 1's E's etc... after it's gone through all that it just show's the EE 13 and then BL 01 ... it never shows the word "done"
I'm persistent so will keep trying.
Thanks, Sara

From PT Do-It-Yourself.net:

Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions

Notes - Some owners have reported experiencing malfunction codes similar to FL 0005, EE 05, and BL 01 during the start of the instrument gauge (Test A) self-test. These are not MIL codes. The readouts simply represent PCM software version information:

FL0002 - Display Application Code Level
EE 02 - Display EEPROM version
bL 01 - Display Boot Loader version

Sara,

Your not holding the reset button down while turning the key are you? That only gives you the test of the guages and dials and the number test at the bottom of the middle dial. The numbers start with 11111111111, then 222222222 all the way up and then the dials start to move doing a test one at a time. Do not touch anything but the key.

thanks for the help.... I finally got the code... it's the "coolant thermostat" I'll have that changed this weekend. I'll be looking forward to reading and joining in on the forums! I don't have any fotos of my cruiser...it's just a plain ole black one with no special additions. I'm generally out cruising on my bike... lol I've got fotos of that!
