Default Timing belt change - is this possible?

I've gotten the parts together to do the timing belt service, and I've been studying the service manual and this forum to get familiar with the procedure before I start turning wrenches. Hopefully, someone who's done the job can answer this: is it possible, instead of unbolting the engine from the mount and jacking it way up, to remove the fender and just unbolt the engine mount from the engine and the frame rail and pull it out in order to remove the cast iron mount plate from the engine? It might take longer, but it sure seems like it would make jacking the motor (and the attendant breakage risks) unnecessary. I bought new engine mounts, so it's coming out anyway.

Nevermind - just looked at my new mount and realized it's half buried in the frame, so the mount plate has to be out before the mount will come out.
I was under the impression it bolted up flat to the frame.
