Unhappy Oxygen sensor

Hello fellow cruisers!
I'm a newbie here and I have a question. Had my car serviced
after after a fender bender. They changed tensioner, belts
and air compressor! They claimed I bent the chasis on the right
front passenger side. all fixed ( although I thinnchasis may have
been pre existing) 2008 cruiser engine lite is on still!
They're saying it's 02 sensor! Not part of the accident! Ugh!
Is it possible to clean/ change the sensor myself seems to
be easily accessable. Special tools? Any info will be greatly
appreciated! Thanks

IF you change it, make sure it is OEM as our PT's do not like aftermarket sensors. When they changed tensioner etc, did they also change the timing belt. If not, it should be done at 100,000.

Think you misinterpreted that.

When you do the cycle to bring up error codes, it'll go through all the codes (1-2 second in between each code) and once all codes are displayed it ends with 'Done' meaning there are no more codes to display. Your problem still persists, and I can't recommend anything myself but just thought I'd give you that heads up.

If you're looking at a sensor that appears that it should pull out, then you're not looking at either of the two 02 sensors. They unscrew---grudgeingly and they are not easy to get to. One is on top of the exhaust manifold and the other is on the catalitic convertor. Also no, you can not "clean" an 02 sensor.

The wires (usually 4) will go to a plastic (gray or black) electrical connection. The connection has to be taken apart so the sensor can be removed from the car. The new sensor with come with the wires and plastic connection.

Unless you buy a universal sensor and sometimes they come with the wires without the electrical connection.

Remove the negative cable from the battery for about 10 minutes, that should do it.
