Default Ignition wires, use HEI Connectors?

Hi everyone. I have a seemingly stupid question or two on the ignition wires. First, I have a 2005 PT Cruiser GT Convertible with the HO Turbo. I'm getting ready to do plugs and ignition wires. I've read through as many posts as my eyes would let me and ordered the NGK 4306 and have already picked up the Accel Super Stock Spiral wires. So, now for the question, the wires have connectors for plugs already attached but for the coil side it's left for me to do. There are two bags of connectors in the box, one is labled HEI, are those the ones I'm supposed to use?
And just to vent for a moment, what happened to buying assembled wires? Now I have to buy a crimping tool for $50+. They were nice enough to include the jaws so that I can buy/use their tool (which by the way the auto parts store doesn't carry). Also, complete set of 8 wires for a 4 cylinder??? Anyone local to me (SE North Carolina) need 4?
Thanks for letting me vent and I look forward to finding out if I need to use the HEI connectors (bag 2) or the others (bag 1)....

It sounds like you've been shopping at Wall-Mart's Auto Parts, or something equally strange ....

Take those wires back, and go to Napa, O'Reilley's--some proper auto parts store, and get the correct set of wires for your car.

Sounds like you got a universal set that could be used on a 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engine with wires that you cut to the correct length and then attach the ends to. Price was probably good until you found out you needed a tool to install that they 'forgot' to tell you about up front.

Actually, Advanced Auto Parts, $50. I wanted to get higher end wires, 8mm. Didn't expect to have to cut and splice. I could've spent $30 for the 7mm ones. Of course they all show the connectors attached to the wire in the picture on the box....

Use bag #3. That's the one that you put the universal wires into before you return them. Go to any good parts store (NAPA, etc.) and get almost any brand wire that is 8.0 m or bigger. Taylor, Belden, MSD, Magnacore, Granatelli, Crane (if you can find them), etc. Just open the box and make sure they're made for our PTs. You can even use the "blue" Chrysler wires (around 250 ohms cold resistance). They are a huge improvement over the stock PT wires that typically have 2900 to 8900 ohms cold resistance.

NAPA online lists 3 wire sets, all are 7mm, two are Belden and one is Mileage Plus.

Try searching for 2003 model. It will say it fits and there the same up to 2010 model.

Dont know why they stop at 2003 though. Running the same set on a 2006 so i do know they fit and have correct boots that go through the valve cover and seat properly.
