Default 1ST SMALL PROBLEM W/ 2007 PT

HELLO, IM NEW TO THIS FORUM & WANTED TO ASK...

IVE GOT A 2007 PT CRUISER W/ 60,000 MILES, JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE & CHANGED THE BATTERY. THE PT IS STARTING TO "CHOKE" A LITTLE WHEN IM ON IDLE & HAVE THE A/C RUNNING AT THE SAME TIME. ITS NOT MAJOR, HASNT ACTUALLY TUNED OFF OR ANYTHING, BUT WANNA SOLVE THE PROBLEM BEFORE I GOTTA CALL AAA FOR A TOW. ALSO, IVE HAD THIS HAPPEN WHEN IM GOING ABOUT 2MPH AND MAKE A SHARP TURN (LIKE TO GET OUT OF A PARKING SPOT). ITS PRETTY WEIRD....

ANY IDEAS ON WHAT THIS COULD BE COMING FROM???

I agree with Bob. I've got a 2006 w/59,400 that was doing the same thing while idling and running either the heater or AC. Last weekend, I changed plugs and wires. I also cleaned the throttle-body with some Berryman's B-12, some clean rags, and q-tips for the areas where the butterfly meets the edge (make sure to check that there's no debris left from the rag/q-tip before re-assemble.)

I was a little nervous because I hadn't done any of this in a while, but using this post made it super easy:

2006-Up Pt Cruiser Spark Plug Removal.

Anyhow, the choking/rough-idle is gone, and my baby is running smooth again

Verela, does this "choking" seem more like the engine is "stuttering"--like it wants to die? Then it idles okay for a few seconds, then "chokes" again? And it happens mostly at idle--and not out on the highway?

Does it only happen when using your Air Conditioner? You said it happens when going 2 Miles per hour. That's pretty slow. And if true, the engine is not running much above idle--if that's a true speed.

Let us know.

Tim

I agree with Bob D. Plugs & wires. Could also be the radiator fan assembly: High speed fan going south. If it does not do this with the AC off, that's diagnostic.
