Shannon,

Some fault lights go out by themselves when the computer checks and sees that the fault is no longer there. I'd give it a couple days to see if it goes away especially since when you check for codes you get "done".

You can also check another way. Hold the odometer reset button in while you turn the key on (don't start engine). This does a check of all the lights and dials and starts out by saying "no faults". At least mine does that.

Same applies to the gas cap. If it's not put on correctly and turned a couple times after a fill-up. The fault light will come on. If you tighten it the fault light doesn't go out for a day or so after the computer checks it a few times.

If all that fails, try the negative battery cable again and leave it off for 10 minutes.
