Smile pulsating thingy

Well my wife’s “04” Standard Turbo started the light pulsating thingy mid September.
All lights flickering at idle when car is warmed up.
Took it into dealer, on the first visit they came up with;
Repaired #2 Field wire pin;
Added a ground from the Alt.;
Replace Alternator;
Told her it was repaired and sitting at a traffic light on the way home from dealership she looked down and it was still pulsating.
Took it back and she was told they had no help from Chrysler and they were saying it was NORMAL. BS it took 7 years to do this.
Are they stalling, extended warranty will run out in a couple of weeks?
After a couple more weeks she noticed it was now doing the pulsating thingy while driving.
She takes the PT back to the dealership. Have the Tec drive it at night and tell me this is normal. Tec’s frustrated no help from Chrysler. Someone comes up with pulling the battery cable on a different PT while running. It did not die, hers died when pulled. So they started there. Told her the Alternator putting out good volts the PCM only putting out 1/2 of the volts needed to function.
Fix;
Reprogram Flash update on PCM
Preplaced Powertrain Control Module
All under Chrysler warranty.

Wife is very happy her baby is like it was new. No more flickering lights, all powered units work like new also i.e.; widows go up faster and smother, idles smooth again, and starts smoother. Waiting to see if her MPG improves.
Thanks to Town & Country, SHE’S HAPPY!, LIFE’S EASIER! .

You know i have something kinda simular happening not as bad. My car idles kinda rough and if im driving my all my lights will flicker on a occasion. I have no stereo all stock, I notice it happens when i roll the windows up or down and or like if i have it on defrost and the compressor kicks on it does it bad. I know they use a lil power but to cause a bad flicker? Wonder if this could be my issue.

First of all, you should NEVER pull the battery cable on a newer car while it's running. You can damage the PCM and other associated electronics.

Second, why would they perform a PCM flash and then replace the PCM? Or was it the other way around? I wonder if they damaged the PCM doing the "pull the cable while running" trick.

IT’S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!
Wife’s ’04 PT started with the light flickering about a year ago. What was different with this from other similar problems all electrical components were effected. They started to just through things at it, Alternator, battery, and ground straps no help. Wound up replacing the main computer.
This lasted until last week it all started again, car warms up light flicker at idle and at stops.
This time it is the dash and head lights.
Back to Chrysler Stealer they look at the PT they can’t find any thing. So they had her come back with a Chrysler TEC there, they call and tell her the PT is done.
Chrysler now’s there is a problem here is the wordage from the invoice, “checked NAD not an uncommon condition, no further repairs available at this time.” We know the problem is there to bad live with it we are not doing anything about it.

do a search of "flicker" or "flickering" here - you are not alone, but not one single cause.
A few I remember - IOD fuse - clean contacts and replace it; ignition switch; battery/ground cables....

Quicksilverdo Thanks For Your Reply,
The dealership is getting absolutely now help from Chrysler. The service writer told me that they went on the internet to see if anyone has figured this out. Even he was very stand offish on this your; one your own.
Thanks for the help; they threw all kinds of things at it the first time so I will try anything at this point. I just to not understand why if the flickering is so common why it took so long to show it self and if this is what whipped out the PCM the first time. That was under warranty so I’m I going to pay for the next one.
Well my wife loves her PT, So live is easer when she is happy so here goes endless hours of research.
I do have a question is this common for all PTs or are there newer years with out this problem? I would be willing to retro if there is. The PT only has 58k on it and looks new. Like I said she happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first thing i would do is upgrade the pos and neg batt cables to a 2 gauge or 1/0 gauge cable. and add another engine to frame ground strap thats what I have done and no more probs. as for the ECM 03electricbluegt is right on the button with the not pulling the batt cable while running. the Alt can spike up the 150 volts and take the computer out. that test works only for noncomputerised cars of long ago. two things happen when you do that
1. you toast the ECM or
2. the ECM shuts down to save its self.
and If the tech did that at the dealer.... dont ever set foot in that dealership again or at least dont have that "tech" and I wouldnt even call him a tech, ever touch your car again.
