Default Sqealing problem in 2003 PT Cruiser

My 2003 PT Cruiser is at the dealer for the 5th time now for a sqealing problem in the engine. They keep replacing a belt or tightening the belt, but the problem keeps coming back. Anyone had this problem or know what it could be other than a belt?

Welcome, I do seem to remember someone posting about this problem, the final fix involved removing the belt and a good cleaning of the pully (break part cleaner) and the belt.

Try a search with the search link above, I would try something like belt or pully.

Hope this helps.

I've heard of power steering pump failures - on '01 & '02s - chances are they haven't changed anything for '03. [:I]

Oh, and look into your state's "Lemon Laws" - if they try to fix something three times, you could get a new car.

macster: I have worked in a GM & DC dealership in the parts department. I know for a fact that IF a customer is pi$$ed about something, the vehicle will be worked on, but not to happily. IF a customer was sane and didn't get excited or threatening they would do everything to make them happy even loaning them a vehicle.

My advise: KEEP COOL[|)] when dealing with the dealership, HAPPY customers are like money in the bank. Good referals = Good HAPPY custoners

You are correct, in my case they offered me a vehicle (free) and I told them that they had nothing that could compare with my 97 Plymouth Voyager base model and we all had a good laugh. But seriously I could tell that they were really trying to fix it, so I didn't have any problems at all working with them.

I took the car back to the dealer and left it. I was never upset, never mad, I just told them to keep it until they fixed it. This last time they kept it from 10/13 to the 10/22.

Last time I said keep it until it's fixed they had it over 5 weeks[xx(] Thanks for your reference above, MAC
