Default cam sensor

Hello, I have a 03 pt non turbo and it wont start the check engine light came on the other then went off.
I had it towed to a shop, he said it was the cam sensor he said he would replace both of them for 283.00 ? is there 2 or 1
could I DO IT MYSELF fair with tools.

Yes, you can do it yourself and there's only 1 Camshaft sensor. Even if you don't do it, stay away from whoever you talked to.

If you have any experience at all and some basic tools, you should be fine. It's located on the right side of the engine as your standing in front of it. Here's a HOW TO link ...

One more thing. ONLY buy the Camshaft Sensor at a Chrysler dealer. A little bit more expensive than an auto store but worth it. Some after market sensors don't work.

Now, after saying all that, he might have been talking about the other sensor known as the CRANKshaft sensor. IF he's going to replace both (Crank/Cam) with Genuine Chrysler parts (tell him you want to see the boxes), then it's not too far out of line for your $283.00 with parts, labor and taxes.

Thank You, I just went and picked it up from the shop.
I messed with the wires and also unhooked the battery for a few min.
kept trying it and it started the check engine light was on all the way home 10 mi. Going to the parts store. Thanks for the help
