The computer sets the idle however there's a few things that can cause the computer to throw that code.

A vacuum leak
An air restriction in the intake air path or exhaust
A faulty positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve
Damaged/failed/dirty throttle body
Internal engine problem
Failed PCM

Just the last two are bad. The rest are home mechanic type stuff.

I'd start by taking off the negative battery cable for 10 minutes. That will clear the code and computer. Then, if it comes back on, you can start trouble shooting what might be wrong. It might have been a one time fault that the computer got a message about and set the code. It might clear itself and then the light won't come back on.

I reset the PCM via the battery cable method. I cleaned the throttle body and replaced the PCV about 5K ago (dealer part). This morning it was 24F and the CEL came on again with the P0506. When it gets below 30F the CEL come one with this code. Could it be the IAC?

Thanks
