Default Spark Plug Wires what should I do?

I recently bought spark plug cables from a private seller. I noticed that one of the plugs had the rubber torn about 1/4" off the end and the metal cylinder inside had the top part of it bent and the bottom was still straight. Should that metal piece be in two pieces like that? If I use this could it hurt the engine?

Don't think it with "hurt" the engine, but sounds you got some wires that were returned to the seller after someone else messed around with them. Can you contact the seller and ask for a replacement of that wire...or the whole set? I wouldn't like that cut in the rubber as it might or could cause a spark leak.

I would like to return then, but like I said its a private dealer and not a company. So I guess I had taken my chance and failed. I think I can go to a parts store and see if I can get a single cable.

Agree (as usual) with Crewzin. Don't risk a misfire. It won't really harm the engine, but will make you angry. I doubt you'll find a single cable - but I would recommend against getting a "universal" set - get a set only for the PT - the voltages are much higher than they were years ago. I had the stock set start to fail well before 25,000 miles.

BTW - I went to CRANE wires (RaceAndStreet.Com) - cured a "miss" I had and have been failsafe for 40,000+ miles.[?]

KingKole02, I agree with the 2 above answers. Sometimes when we try to save $$$'s, it doesn't pay. Remember: "You usually get what you pay for"!! Sorry about your problem.

I'd suggest contacting the private party you purchased the wires from, explain the situation, and kindly ask for a refund if you haven't already. However, I'm assuming you originally inquired about the condition of the wires and were told there were no visible flaws. It's not like you're complaining about a superficial flaw or being too picky. You have a valid complaint. Perhaps the condition of the wires was misrepresented or maybe the buyer wasn't aware of the problem but would be willing to take them back. It never hurts to ask for a reasonable request. I hope you're able to work it out.
