Default oil leak valve cover?

I have been experiencing a slow leak in my oil. I have been adding about 3/4 of a quart of oil every 4000 miles. I took my car into midas for my last oil change and they suggested that I replace my valve cover gasket. I haven't really noticed any oil leaking from around the gasket. I searched everywhere else on the car and can't seem to find the oil leak. I am thinking of just replacing the gasket and seeing what happens. Any suggestions?

Stay away from Midas and many other "quickie" places. They will find mystery "things" that mechanics will not believe. A lot of places like that "throw" parts at an auto, thinking that it may be the cause.

You did mention that you checked all of the logical places I would suggest. Someone else was just on the forum asking the same question, you could change the gasket, but 3/4 qt in 4000 miles isn't that bad. You didn't say how many miles you have on it, are you burning (black/dark smoke in the exhaust) oil?

I have 68,000 miles on the car, don't notice any odd smoke coming from anywhere

You're not losing much oil at all. 3/4 quart in 4000 miles? I only wish my PT used so little between oil changes. I go through that much in 1000 miles--and no leaks or burning issues ....

You might try having oil changed somewhere else - with a name brand oil and see what happens.
I have a low opinion of Midas - how do you know what oil they're putting in?
