Question Heater smell

When the heater is in the full open position the air coming out smells like burning oil. I've opened the engine compartment and no obvious signs of burning oil. I recently changed the cabin air filter about 300 miles ago. This only happens when the heater is on, not the a/c. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Thanks

When I changed the cabin air filter on my previous car it did the same thing. It was just the new rubber around the filter heating up and it went away eventually.Maybe not your problem but that was the case with mine.

discovering06, Did you ever determine the root cause? I have an 07 which I get a similar smell you have describe each winter when I start using the heat. I do not get the smell when running the AC in the summer.

I saw that but was looking at his response info. If he respond than maybe we can pick up the responses again. I have a feeling about the answer. it is not the first time some one changed there cabins filter and smelled "NEW" and strange things. Everyone's nose smells a little different.
