Default Heated Seats install

OK. I've got a 2001 LE with leather seats. Would it be possible to put the heating elements into the seats or would it be too hard/impossible? Or would I need to just get seats that have this in them? The reason I ask is because I saw there was a slot for a heated seat fuse in my fuse block (obviously nothing was there) and was wondering if I could just install the system on to the vehicle or if it would be too much. Thanks for your replies!

Jeff

I'd be interested, too. The FSM lists replacing the elements, but the FPM doesn't list them ...

Does anyone know about this at all? I've checked my manual over and over and still can't find any information.

*Bump*

I haven't done that in my PT but did in my Aurora, and in that car, as in most, I had to undress the seat. Basically had to take the seat out of the car, pull the cover off the seated portion to get to the element there. Pull it, carefully as it's glued in place, install new with light foam glue, then recover the seat. Was really a capital B word of a job. Next time, I'm taking my seat to an upholsterer and let him/her do it.

Very helpful. I'm gunna look around for an upholsterer and get some quotes. If it's that tough to do I think I'd pay someone to do it. Maybe my tax check? Already being pulled in about 8 directions. Lol.

I am not sure what it would cost to get seats upholstered, but you might consider looking on the classified section of this forums or eBay/Craigslist for someone who is selling or parting a PT out which already has heated seats.

Also very true. I think I did a search and didn't really come up with much on here but Ebay and Craigslist are a couple of other good places to go. Thank you meder2487 and Chromenut.

They did have a few PT's at RPM salvage yard on Owens St a few months ago...might be able to buy a used seat with one installed and install the whole seat...Surprised to see someone else from Saginaw here.... I'm over on South Oakley just off of Court Street.....

Out in the township off of Center. I've been to RPM Salvage MANY MANY times between my handles and my caps under the hood (I tend to not put things back when I'm done with them). I've probably seen you around in some fashion. Ha ha. I'll have to check it out and see how much they would quote me for it. I'm sure they'd do the uninstall for me cuz I don't know if I could lug one of those back to the shop from their yard.
