Unhappy Hard Starting after filling Feul tank

Got a 2005 convertable, non turbo. Runs great except after filling fuel tank, cranks along to start and will die if rpm's not kept above approx. 12-1500. after approx 2-3 minutes it will run fine. Check engine is on. Have had check for codes, not any help. had smoke test on fuel emission system, no leaks. Been told needs new gas cap twice,. no help. When check engine light is cleared takes 200 to 500 miles to come back on. Please help

Doing the 'key dance', what code do you get?

It could help us to better tackle your issue.

We already knew what the code was.....been in 2 local shops....both have smoke tested...NO sign of leak, I was present for both tests. Looking for other ideas to try. I'm a heavy equipment mechanic by trade. We live in a rural area, so stealership is out of the question. Any other idea's. Thanks
