Default 2004 PT cruiser Camshaft position sensor installation

Just changed the camshaft position sensor in my 04 n/a PT after the cars CEL would pop on and the car would buck back and forth while accelerationg.. I checked the code and it was P0340.. Just letting you guys know that it was a 20 minute job requiring a flathead screwdriver, 8mm socket, and a ratchet.... No idea is was going to take that short of a time but certainly glad it did..

Glad it worked so easily for you and hopefully you bought and used a sensor from the Chrysler dealer.

Where is this cam position sensor? My son's PT died while running at normal speed. We checks a lot of stuff (plugs, fuses, relays, injectors, fuel pressure) till we managed to start it. It was late afternoon by then (the PT had cooled down) After it started then we came across the codes. It is either the cam position sensor or the ??? position sensor (sorry can't remember the other one).

Am I making enough sense? Sorry if I am not.

Facing the engine, go to the right side and it's a couple inches from the top. Need to take off the air filter to get to it.

Chrysler PT Cruiser cam sensor replacement: standard and turbo

The other one is the Crankshaft Position sensor and you didn't say what year your PT is. If it's and 01-03 it's above the oil filter. it's it's newer than that, it's a PITA place underneath the starter.

2004 and up....
