Default Muffler

Hi I was wondering if there is any benefit to running my pt turbo without a muffler?

Less restriction so yes, however it'll be much louder.

I've deleted my muffler awhile ago myself. My 3" downpipe arrived yesterday so shortly I will have a full 3" exhaust. Turbo will spool up amazingly quick (compared to the stock exhaust+housing).

Not unbearable by any means, but on the freeway at certain speeds/rpms you get that noisy 'drone' in your cabin.

It's plenty loud on the streets but there are Honda's with fartcans that are much louder. I do like the way my car sounds at idle though....some guy even thought I had a V8!

Watch out for cops, it's an excuse to pull you over. Back in the day I had side pipes on my Firebird and it got to the point I would just pull over whenever I saw a cop to save time. It did sound nasty though

Just remember that loud noise for the street does not equal power. Just look at the ricers, loud and slow as hell. The Dodge '03-'05 SRT-4 came without a muffler, but it did have an 18" resonator to at least quiet it down a bit. I had my srt setup so that it was loud, but it grew old over a couple of years. I installed a camaro style flow through muffler and now my srt is quiet and still fast as hell. Really depends what you can put up with and for how long.

You will get "constant" drone at certain speeds on the highway. Unfortunantly, those speeds are usually from 65 to 75. Around town, you will get that same drone for the second or two you are at the top of each and every gear change. After someone has done this mod they will say "it's no big deal", but will usually change it to a "mufflered" system after a short period of time. Sometimes the police will make this decision for you. Fortunantly, all it will take to quiet them down is either a flow-threw type performance muffler or at the very least, a GOOD resonator.

Yeah, in my noisy days I had to pass our little police station every day. I'd let off of the gas as I went by so my car was somewhat quiet. My wife could hear me from 1/2 a mile away if I really got on it.
