Default spindle swap

I am working on a 2001 PT with manual trans. From my reading it seems that only a 2001-2002 spindle/knuckle is swappable from another manual trans.
What is the difference? If it was axle spline or something why is the same hub for both models listed? I can't imagine the balljoint or outter tie-rod end being different. Along with the strut locations.

Just trying to get the lowest cost spindle. $50 difference.

Basically the inner race on the axle end spun on the hub wrecking the hub itself. So pressing on a new bearing was ill advised.

Would the older NEON spindles work?

You just need a hub?

Here's Neon fitment, ignore the text, 'cept year label.
Neon / PT went to a common PT hub in ~'02. so '03-'05 Neon is good.
I usally stock '00 or '01used hubs, we have no use for the PT, but if you really
need one ...

I'd guess the steering knuckle is way different than Neon, the PT is HEAVY,
Neon's not so much

(and to answer your question, axle's interchange; only the spline length
was marginally different for wider bearing)

I saw that photo in another thread, but in the end, I found one local. They tried to sell me a spindle with a bad bearing, but I talked em into $20 and pressed out the hub, swapped it over into the new bearing and all is good.

Place first tried to give me a spindle from an automatic. No clue the differences still. I am guessing the auto trans might have all had provisions for ABS or something?

IDK there was any difference, 'spose the parts book would say.

Not too bad price for the hub; Good you're on the road!!!!
