Not sure about the Water Pump and fins. I just ordered the kit. Many of us have used Rock Auto. Good prices and reliable. I was about the first to order from them and they asked to put a couple posts int he vendor section which I agreed. Check out that section as sometimes they run a sale.

Check out their newest thread in the vendor section and click on the link for current rebates and sale items.

Good deal on your friend and his price. Sounds like a good guy to know. You still have time as we recommend 100,000 for the timing belt change.

I'd do this, I feel strongly about it.
1. Gates belt kit- Idlers and tensioner
2. Chrysler Water pump.

I'm cheap, gladly spend whatever dealer wants for the pump; bought two
Gates water pumps, Chinese. Went to Chrysler and laid my money down, threw out the Gates pumps

Don't let this happen, 30,000 miles:

I'd guess they all have metal fins, never seen one that hadn't

Just used RockAuto and they were the cheapest online and I got my parts three days later. They were actually half the cost of Advanced

If you have a turbo, then no, you do not want the metal finned pump. Get the turbo pump from Chrysler.

I quote: "Physically, a completely new water pump was used on the turbo motor. The NA engines stamped steel 6 blade impeller was replaced with an injection molded 7 blade impeller. In addition, the water pump housing was modified to give tighter clearances, improving pump efficiency. The revised design lifted flow by 25 per cent and gave a 48 per cent increase in pressure across the pump at 5000 rpm." End quote.

I've used RockAuto twice and I got good stuff from them. I DO choose the middle of the road priced items they have for sale, however.

The last items I ordered was a pair of hatch struts. They were infinitely better than Chrysler's OEM.
