Default No start/stalling, plus 2 trans codes

I have a 2001 Cruiser base model with 18,000 miles on it and the car runs rough at idle and after the car warms up it has stalled multiple times and is hard to start back up while warm. at the same time 2 trans codes were present, P0700 and P0725. are these concerns related and/or has anyone come across this issue.

Thanks

Found this on a search:

Question: I have a 2000 Chrysler with 122,000 miles. Recently tranny has acted up, not shifting out of first and now constantly stalls, restarts, but now won't stay idling. Have checked codes with readings of P0725 and P0700. Where to start and how deep the trouble might be with the tranny would be appreciated. - Keith, January 2009

Answer: Hi Keith. Both codes (obviously) point to transmission related problems. The P0700 code means Transaxle Control System Fault Conditions and the DTC code P0725 code means Engine Speed Input Circuit. The P0700 code is for information only and the next step is to check for transaxle codes in the Transaxle Control Module (TCM). So you'll have to have the dealer or another qualified shop/technician pull the transaxle codes from the TCM and go from there. Good luck!

What's wrong with the answer I gave you. Doesn't matter where you got the codes, it has to be put on an OBDII scanner from the dealer or mechanic to pinpoint the exact problem. You can't do anymore yourself.

That code is from the TCM saying it doesn't know engine rpm. It would usually have a code in the PCM for no crank signal also if it were the crank sensor but I wouldn't rule it out.

If it's not the sensor itself, it's the wiring between the PCM and TCM, the PCM itself, or the TCM itself. I would inspect the wiring into both modules and crank sensor, if nothing found, you can gamble and just replace the crank sensor. Other than that, if you don't have a multimeter, you'll need someone to diagnose it.

It was put on a scanner from my toyota dealer and those were the 2 codes that came up and i wanted to know if anyone came across these 2 codes and what they did and if these codes are a common problem....

if someone came on a toyota forum and said they have a p0401 egr code on a 99 camry the correct answer would be its a common problem and you should check the EGR valve or EGR VSV valve to see if the vsv valve is applying the correct vacuum to the egr valve.....
