Default where to find crank and cam shaft sensors.

the engine check light came on and then the car just stalled. we can start it but when put in drive it stalls. i can go in reverse though. we checked it on a computer and it said: intermittent loss of CMP or CKP. does this mean we need to replace the cam shaft sensor or the crank one? and can some one tell me where to find these? thank you.

I'm not sure what the codes mean but you need to get your sensors from the dealer. Our cars dont respond well to aftermarket sensors so dealer sensors will keep you from having to change them again.

The crankshaft position sensor is located as shown in the pic below. I have never attempted to remove it in a PT but this is where the manual says it is located.

The link to the picture is only for the 01 to 03 PT Cruiser. If you have an 04+ PT, the crankshaft sensor is located behind the starter.

The Camshaft sensor is on the right hand side of the block if your facing the engine from in front of the car.

I've never heard of both sensors going bad at once. An OBDII scanner can tell you which one is the bad one.
