Default won't accelerate over 2300 rpms

I've been having problems with my 2006 PT, check engine light comes on at random times (sometimes it goes off and will stay off for several miles, but it's been staying on a lot more lately.) When it comes on the car jerks when I reach 2200-2300 rpms. It's really slow to accelerate and once I reach about 55, I can't go any faster. The code (i don't remember the number) said it's the camshaft sensor. I changed it and the car drove fine for about 3 weeks (about 600 miles.) This was the longest I've ever gone without the check engine light on since I started having this problem. It's now on again and it's giving me the same code for camshaft sensor. Obviously it's not the sensor that needs to be replaced. What else could it be? Could it be spark plugs? We're right at 99k miles. If I change them and it keeps happening, what else should I try?
Also, there are times when the check engine light is on and it drives just fine!! Why is that?
Thanks in advance for all your help because I'm truly stumped!

You bought a new camshaft sensor where? If you would have read through the forum before posting, you'd know that the PT only likes new electrical parts from the Chrysler dealer, not a part from any old auto store. Now go spend the money and buy another one, this time at the dealer and your problem is solved.

Your Welcome.

It would be nice to introduce your self instead of just posting your problem. It's a PT Cruiser forum, not just one of the "ask for help" and leave things you look up on Google.
