Default GAs Mileage MUCH worse after tune up

So I got a tune up, new spark plugs, wires and the throttle body and fuel injectors were cleaned (car was idling roughly at a stop). It idles beautifully now.

And my gas mileage is WORSE than before the tune up! Why would this be--it should be better, right?

I am on my first tank of gas--and it is now at 1/4 of a tank and I have only gone 150 miles (mix of highway and city). I used to get around 280 miles out of a tank. Aint no way it is going to get another 130 miles out of a 1/4 of a tank. I know this is not the way to calculate mileage, but since the tank is not empty yet, I cant give you a real number--however, the difference is noticeable. I first noticed it last week, when it seemed like I was at the gas station way too soon after the last fill up. (04 Limited, Turbo and auto trans)

So did they not adjust something right? What could be wrong? With gas at $4 a gallon, I cant afford this nonsense!

do you know what they gapped the plugs at? Did they have to take off the throttle body? at idle what r your rpms at? what kinda wires did they replace them with? When you got the car, was it new or used?

I have no idea, that is what I pay them to know The car was two years old when I got it and mileage was okay before the tuneup.

Purple, go ahead and fill up the tank again--fill till the pump stops automatically, then fill real easy on the gas pump handle till it stops again. Record your PT's mileage the moment you're finished filling the tank. Then drive the car around till you get to around a half tank.

Now go to the gas station again and fill up the tank--then easy-does-it--squeeze in more gas till the gas handle stops pumping a second time.

Now record the mileage on your PT. Compare this last mileage figure with the mileage figure you recorded on the last fill-up. Let's say you went 150 miles.

Now look at your reciept from the gas station and find the amount of gas you pumped into the PT this last time. Divide your latest mileage by the number of gallons of gas you just pumped in. Let's say it's 10 gallons.

This will give you a true figure of how many miles you're getting per gallon.

In other words, divide 150 by 10. Your figure would be 15 miles per gallon.

what he said is the best to get a good bench mark as to what you are actually getting what does the readout on PT say you are getting???? you really cant go by miles unless you know the gallons used

Or ... just divide miles by gallons. Seems to me that's simple enough ....
