Default AC tune up

Ok guys on my wifes PT the AC stopped working, I checked the pressure in the line and it read 0, so she took it to get filled and checked for leaks. They told her that it needs a couple of new parts including the compressor and that it would be $1200.00. So took it to another place and they told her that the system was just low and that the car needs a tune-up. They said that it is idling to high that is why the ac is not wroking. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before. Not sure what to do now.

Idle shouldn't have anything to do with it. You might need a tune up but that's another story. Take it to a third place, have them check the levels and fill if necessary.

Without the A/C on you should be idling at around 700-800 rpms. The idle is controlled by the computer.
