Welcome to the Forum. I would suggest doing a search, there are many postings. You could try the "Sticky" section in the Performance section.

I'd suggest removing weight.

There's a how-to on how to get a Neon into the 13's for $1200
most parts are the same, all principals are!

Minnesota's Community of Neons! • View topic - Run 13's for $1200-1500. 56k? Go to work, stop for a drink

Performance and non turbo PT should not be put in the same sentence. Spend about $30 and get an aftermarket drop in air filter. Put in some good Bosch platinum plugs, replace the crappy stock plug wires and add a nice sounding exchaust. You'll have a good running, nice sounding PT. Performance will pretty much be the same as stock as there isn't much you can do for the non turbo PT to scrape out more performance, but it will run well and sound nice. As Uptown said, you can always strip out the interior and run faster.

The cheapest way to add a turbo, is to sell the NA and buy a Turbo. Forget the chips etc.

There's a GT for sale in the Marketplace section of the forum. That's your best bet for performance. Repeat after me ....C.R.U.I.S.E.R. That's what the N/A PT is all about. Enjoy the ride.

Same as I have always answered to the non turbos asking that .... way more than the price difference of getting one with factory turbo over the value of your N/A. I am not sure what a 02 Booster is. A chip on NA usually does not yeild more than about 5 - 12 HP, but will usually also require you to use a higher grade of fuel ... ALL the time, and require all the intake and exhuast mods mentioned above to reach that higher gain.

My 06 is NA ... I will say it has a peppy engine, it's nothing like my Bug .... but it will get to 90 or 100 in about the same time as the Bug gets over 135 and back down to 70. I haven't had the PT too much over the century mark, but it seemed stable. The N/A engine is rated at like 150 HP ... thats pretty good ... my first 73 Mustang Fastback with it's huge 2BBL 351 Cleveland was only rated at 159HP .... but that was at the wheels not flywheel like todays cars. That car used to get me in the 9's or high 8's .... MPG that is not ETA's, I think with a little better breathing the NA PT would beat that car, which I never got over 110 .... too scary in that beast, and the PT would still get 20-25MPG.
