Exclamation WARPED HEAD / SCORED CAMSHAFT / BLOWN HEAD GASKET

18 months ago I had my oil changed in my 2006 Cruiser at a Chrysler Dealership. The tech did not secure the plug and 90 miles later all the oil leaked out and the car overheated. I was forced to drive the car about another mile because I was on a busy highway. This was the only time my car has ever overheated.

A compression test was performed and came back normal. Here I am 18 months later with a warped head, scored camshaft and blown head gasket.

The dealership is repairing the engine by replacing 56 parts. I am concerned that if these problems were caused by something that happened 18 months ago, problems in other parts of the engine bay develop. The work performed by the dealership will be warrantied for 1 year.

Should I be insisting that the dealership replace my engine??!!

Immediate replies would be appreciated as the dealership is going to start work tomorrow.

Thank you.

wow, nice intro. lol
Well if your head gasket was blown and your heads are warped, they're gonna have to get a new block in there, or have it machined. Had something similar happen to my mazda truck, but it wasn't the same after i had it fixed. Then i come to find out a few months later, the block cracked. So i'd suggest asking for an new engine. but that's my opinon.
p.s. you might want to introduce yourself and tell us a lil more about your baby.
I'm danny, my pt is Eve and we say hello from San Antonio.

well first off you did not blow a head gasket and drive it 18 months that just never happens if it did you would be loosing water or mixing water and oil or something

plus a compression check should have told you that something was not right

the warped head is most likely from over heating but again not from no oil
the blown head gasket could have done this

now the camshaft that is from no oil

So some how you blew a head gasket the engine got hot and warped the head

the oil leaked out and the cam went dry and got scored and after 18 months it ate up the bearings

Id really make sure that the dealership checked the crank the wrist pins the connecting rods if you boogered up a cam it could just as easily have marked up the crank

but then if they are replacing 56 parts they could be replacing the berings

Since I drove one for 11 months I would think 18 is possible. I did not notice mine till I changed jobs and had a long slow (agonizingly slow) comute home where all the coolant was consumed. Before that I had a short commute. Mine was a 2.0L Kia Sportage engine that had the oil cooler coolant line nicked by the filter wrench at a quick oil change place. I NOW CHANGE MY OIL RELIGIOUSLY between 3000 and 10000 miles MYSELF .... and have not had these problems ever before or since. (READ THE CAPS)

As for the Cam ... I agree it is lack of oil.
