Mine definitely has more engine noise when I first start it up on a cold morning, after about a minute it returns to normal.

I also have the diesel sound when the engine is cold. Grrrrrrrrr, I dont wanna take it back to the dealership and have them work on it, I'm afraid to, first of all its a pontiac dealer and second seems like everyone at that place is a clown.

My dealer is FORD-CHRYSLER-JEEP! Hows that for variety? They are just great to do business with and my PT is a second purchase there. Incedently, I have a Motorcraft service due sticker on the windshield. Oh yes, mine also is a banger when it's cold, but a lot of prior vehicles that I have owned did this in cold weather.

The problem with that, though, is that there is no guarantee that the problem will be fixed since the lash adjusters as a whole seem to be junk, as it is an ubiquitous problem.

Then there are the dealer-monkeys...the cure may be worse than the disease.

I will fix it myself. I can get the special tools for $100, I have the service manual, and I am no less experienced than the dealer-monkeys here (judging by the frequent head-scratching, "I don't know"s, and "Nobody here has ever done that before"s on top of the regular bull**** they feed to me).

Does anyone know if better quality/performance lash adjusters are available to replace the flaky factory ones?
