Default 06gt auto ---> manual

I dont plan on doing this anytime soon, but lets just say my tranny blows up next year. My big question is this: What would the cost be to have a 5 spd manual put in, instead of the auto? Also, would the amount I save by doing it myself be worth the aggrevation, or should I just get a shop to do it for me. A good buddy of mine works at a repair shop and I could probably get it done there for a slight discount, but I dont know for sure. Thanks in advance!

Its probably not worth it. Just figure the parts you need plus the installation cost.

Transmission
Pedal Assy
Clutch line
Clutch
Axles?
PCM?
Shifter Assy
Shifter Cables

You figure about 10 hours labor (give or take) and even a discounted shop labor rate is around $85 an hour. IMO not worth it. Sell the car and buy a manual if your dead set on it.

Also by doing this, you car will be worth $0 more. Just saying.

Its a lot of work and a ton of parts. There is a guy on ptcrew that has done it on his and also did it again for someone. He did have a 3rd. sort of kit ready to do someone elses or was wanting to sell it.

You could check there and talk to him if you want to see how involved this is.

If you go with the G288 Getrag, you're talking $1700 in parts alone. Add to this about a week of labor. Not a cheap mod.

Swapped my 01 Auto to an MTX with the help of Alex (low_pt). He posts on PTC mostly.

The Getrag is a 'stronger' trans, but realistically, you can use the older NVT350 as well. Power handling is much more dependent on your clutch.

I believe Alex has some parts laying around (he always does) and could source some for you as well. He's up in Michigan, and I'm sure he'd be willing to help you our, or at least point you in the right direction.
