Default Tail Gate Replacement

My 2001 gate has nasty rust. Is this an easy item to replace if I find a good one at a salvage yard?

Should be pretty easy but definitely a two person job.

In fact I was at the bone yard yesterday looking at hatches,my '01 has a small bit of rust at the very bottom. I was curious how much they were, $350 for an "OK" one, they had 4 of them, one was totally trashed..( just came in and not checked yet) 2 had the beginning of rust and one was "perfect" but no glass or wiper..or hardware at all for that matter.
Seemed a bit high to me. I was also looking for a used rear wiper motor, they wanted $50!!!
I see Rock Auto sells reman for about $30+core of $25..something like that..a good price.
I was wondering about the wiring, they just cut the cable where it goes into the roof, how hard is it to feed the wires back through and where is the "plug" to mate up to the hatch?

See the black rubbery coiled thing? That's the way the wires go from the roof to the hatch.

When I replaced my wifes 01 N/A rear hatch, I removed the interior panels and unplugged the original wires and then plugged it to the new hatch. The only pain was to bolt it back on...IT WAS REALLY HEAVY ...two friends holding it and me screwing the bolts...

So after taking off the interior panel it's just a cable click and four hinge bolts? I presume the cable connector is in the gate, not under the car roof panel.

Any tips on where to access the clips on the panel?

Is it straight forward changing the lock and hooking up the washer squirt thing?

Do you think there would be a way to connect the gas struts before bolting the gate in place in order to help hold it up?

Sure if you have another person and a third hand.
